Wazwan

Wazwan is a multi-course meal in Kashmiri cuisine, the preparation of which is considered an art and a point of pride in Kashmiri culture and identity. Almost all the dishes are meat-based (lamb, chicken). It is popular throughout Kashmir and served internationally at Kashmiri food festivals

The ultimate formal banquet in Kashmir is the royal Wazwan. Of its thirty-six courses, between fifteen and thirty can be preparations of meat, cooked overnight by a master chef.
Guests are seated in groups of four and share the meal out of a large metal plate called the traem. For Kashmiri Muslims the meal begins with invoking the name of Allah and a ritual washing of hands in a basin called the Tash-t-naer, which is taken around by attendants. Then the traem arrive, heaped with rice, quartered by two seekh kababs and contains four pieces of methi korma (chicken or mutton flavored with a spice mixture containing dried fenugreek (methi) leaves), two tabak maaz (twice-cooked lamb ribs, initially braised with ground spices and milk, then browned in butter), one safed kokur (chicken with white sauce), one zafran kokur (chicken with saffron sauce), and the first few courses. Yogurt and chutney are served separately in small earthen pots. As each traem is completed, it is removed, and a new one brought in, until the dinner has run its course. Seven dishes are a must for these occasions — tabakh maaz, rista (meatballs in a red, paprika-saffron-fennel spice gravy colored with alkanna tinctoria), rogan joshdaniwal korma (lamb roasted with yoghurt, spices and onion puree, topped with cilantro leaves), aab gosh (lamb chunks cooked with a fennel-based spice mixture, cardamom and partially evaporated milk), marchhwangan korma (chicken legs/thighs cooked in a spicy browned-onion sauce) and gushtaba (meatballs cooked in a spicy yoghurt gravy). The meal ends with the Gushtaba. Nowadays the count for serving the dishes has reached 40.

Tarsar and Marsar: There are two legendry lakes in the District, Tarsar and Marsar. Situated in the high mountains  about 3 and 5 kms, from Nagberan. . These two lakes  have a close association with the Folk of Kashmir. The Tarsar Marsar Lake trek gives you a most memorable glimpse of the breath-taking beauty of Kashmir. In just 4 days you get to experience its scenic meadows, pristine lakes and beautiful valleys - that are so well known throughout the world.
The campsite is not big enough to accommodate big groups. A short walk from the campsite gives you a breath taking view of the Tarsar Lake. The lake is quite big and resembles a big pool in between the mountains. You can spend the evening beside the lake before retiring for the day.
In weather can deteriorate anytime. Its foggy most of the time so you need to be clear on the direction you are going. There are lots of trails that head left after the lake and taking them might lead you to place called Tral. Just climb the ridge straight up. Sonasar is not far from Marsar. Once you climb up the ridge for about 45 minutes you get the view of Sonasar on your right. The lake is quite small compared to Tarsar and Marsar but you get
camping places here. The only problem that you may face is of fog and bad
weather.

Aripal Nagh: Situated about 11 Kms from Tral town & is famous for its natural Water Spring (Nagh)  oozing out from the the corner of Wastoor-Wan ( small hill). The water is abundant used for irrigation & drinking water supply to the entire Tral area.

Six climbers were killed Friday in an avalanche on Mount Everest, while nine other climbers have gone missing.

The 15 climbers were heading towards an Everest Base Camp in Solukhumbu region when the accident took place, Xinhua reported.

The four bodies have been recovered from the avalanche site, but have not been identified yet.

The heavy snowfall has created difficulty in the search for nine Nepali sherpa climbers who are missing since the avalanche hit their base camp.

"We have demanded two heliometers to search and rescue the missing climbers but due to the heavy snowfall, the task has been affected," Lama Kaji Sherpa, general secretary of the rescue committee, told Xinhua over the telephone.

The avalanche hit the area just below the Base Camp 2 around 6.30 a.m. Friday, said Madhu Sudan Burlakoti, joint secretary from the ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation.

Most of those who died are Nepali Sherpas who were there to make technical preparations for the climbing season beginning next week.

The local Sherpas are renowned in the international climbing community for their experience at very high altitude, making them expert guides and porters for foreign mountaineers.

Hundreds of climbers and their guides have gathered at the base camp to get acclimatised before starting the climb at the world's highest peak early next month.

According to a official report at least 334 permits for Mount Qomolangma as the Everest is known in Tibet have been issued this year, compared to 329 issued at the opening of the spring climbing season last year.
