Rajab Hamid (Satoora Tral)

Afsoos Duniya, Kainsi Naa Loug Samsaar Seeteey

Patau Laakun Vuchh Taa Kumm Kumm Mazaar Vaeteey In May 1910 this man Rajab Hamid was born in a lower middle class family in a remote village SATOORA in Traal Kashmir .Totally illiterate and devoted to Sufism of Kashmir , Rajab sahib wrote a song that crossed all barriers of time and space . Apart from being echoed in every corner of the Valley , this song has also touched kashmiris in UK , USA, SAUDI ARBIA , MIDDLE EAST and the plains of INDIA. You had the cassettes previously and Now you have the CDs of this song selling in the market ;

Afsoos Duniya, Kainsi Naa Loug Samsaar Seeteey

Patau Laakun Vuchh Taa Kumm Kumm Mazaar Vaeteey

( Alas ! This world never accompanied any one ,

Behold !How all the Great Men finally landed at the Graveyard.)

He was brought to the world of Sufi Mysticism by a great Sufi saint Abdul Gaffar Tantray of Midoora, Tral. This couplet is a testimony to his association with Gaffar Tantray:

Bae Tsaaran Yaar Nishatan Shalimaran

Su Aousum Tral Midoorai Choorey Roozan.

I searched my guide far and wide

But found him just in the backyard, Midoora.

His another Murshid and guide : Ghulam Rasool Fida, popularly known as Lassa Khan Islamabaadi. Late Ghulam Hassan Sofi popularized his song AFSOOS DUNIYA through his magical voice and would weep bitterly like a child while singing it. I am a witness to this fact . I am informed by friends that he also wept bitterly while recording it for the first time .

Alas !This great poet too faced absolute indifference from his people. He died in a state of abandonment and abject poverty. His family continues to reel under this poverty. No institution in Kashmir, though we have many who speak about culture and art, came forward to help him when he was alive, or his family, after his death.. Rajab Sahib has a lot of unpublished work Let some institution like our cultural academy take it upon itself to preserve at least his art for our posterity . Rajab sahib loved his Hubble Bubble ( Hukka ) and lived a simple life of a Dervish .He left this world on 2nd April 2008.Peace be to his soul

Wazwan

Wazwan is a multi-course meal in Kashmiri cuisine, the preparation of which is considered an art and a point of pride in Kashmiri culture and identity. Almost all the dishes are meat-based (lamb, chicken). It is popular throughout Kashmir and served internationally at Kashmiri food festivals

The ultimate formal banquet in Kashmir is the royal Wazwan. Of its thirty-six courses, between fifteen and thirty can be preparations of meat, cooked overnight by a master chef.
Guests are seated in groups of four and share the meal out of a large metal plate called the traem. For Kashmiri Muslims the meal begins with invoking the name of Allah and a ritual washing of hands in a basin called the Tash-t-naer, which is taken around by attendants. Then the traem arrive, heaped with rice, quartered by two seekh kababs and contains four pieces of methi korma (chicken or mutton flavored with a spice mixture containing dried fenugreek (methi) leaves), two tabak maaz (twice-cooked lamb ribs, initially braised with ground spices and milk, then browned in butter), one safed kokur (chicken with white sauce), one zafran kokur (chicken with saffron sauce), and the first few courses. Yogurt and chutney are served separately in small earthen pots. As each traem is completed, it is removed, and a new one brought in, until the dinner has run its course. Seven dishes are a must for these occasions — tabakh maaz, rista (meatballs in a red, paprika-saffron-fennel spice gravy colored with alkanna tinctoria), rogan joshdaniwal korma (lamb roasted with yoghurt, spices and onion puree, topped with cilantro leaves), aab gosh (lamb chunks cooked with a fennel-based spice mixture, cardamom and partially evaporated milk), marchhwangan korma (chicken legs/thighs cooked in a spicy browned-onion sauce) and gushtaba (meatballs cooked in a spicy yoghurt gravy). The meal ends with the Gushtaba. Nowadays the count for serving the dishes has reached 40.

Tourist Place of Tehsil Tral with beautiful Pictues and Background

Shikargah: Developed as an attractive tourist spot is situated about 3 kms from Tral. Maharaja Hari Singh used to visit the place for wild life watching.
.

Tarsar and Marsar: There are two legendry lakes in the District, Tarsar and Marsar. Situated in the high mountains  about 3 and 5 kms, from Nagberan. . These two lakes  have a close association with the Folk of Kashmir. The Tarsar Marsar Lake trek gives you a most memorable glimpse of the breath-taking beauty of Kashmir. In just 4 days you get to experience its scenic meadows, pristine lakes and beautiful valleys - that are so well known throughout the world.
The campsite is not big enough to accommodate big groups. A short walk from the campsite gives you a breath taking view of the Tarsar Lake. The lake is quite big and resembles a big pool in between the mountains. You can spend the evening beside the lake before retiring for the day.
In weather can deteriorate anytime. Its foggy most of the time so you need to be clear on the direction you are going. There are lots of trails that head left after the lake and taking them might lead you to place called Tral. Just climb the ridge straight up. Sonasar is not far from Marsar. Once you climb up the ridge for about 45 minutes you get the view of Sonasar on your right. The lake is quite small compared to Tarsar and Marsar but you get
camping places here. The only problem that you may face is of fog and bad
weather.

Aripal Nagh: Situated about 11 Kms from Tral town & is famous for its natural Water Spring (Nagh)  oozing out from the the corner of Wastoor-Wan ( small hill). The water is abundant used for irrigation & drinking water supply to the entire Tral area.
